Lenten Collection for St Vincent de Paul

We are very fortunate to have such a generous and supportive school community, and this was very much evident in the collection held in school during Lent.

For the last three weeks of term, we set about collecting items that would go to the local SVP, for distribution in the local area.

The first week's collection was for non-perishable items (tinned foods etc), followed by the second week's search for cereals (pasta, rice, porridge, breakfast cereals), and the final week's collection was for sweet treats.

Senior pupils kept a count each week. We were delighted to find that over 270 items were collected overall! Thank you to all families who helped out in any way.

Our school has a tradition of donating to SVP at Lent for a number of years. Before that, a donation went to charities assisting in the Developing World.

Representatives of the local branch of St Vincent de Paul called to school to collect the donated items just before the Easter holidays.

5th and 6th class pupils were on standby to load up the van.

Team Up to Clean Up

Let’s Team Up to Clean Up, Together for Kilkenny - a day of action, for people all over Kilkenny county to take care of their local environment, and collect litter.

The date scheduled for this was 24th March. However, the weather was not in our favour that day, so 5th and 6th class took up their litter pickers and donned their new high-vis jackets, the following week.

Hug - a - Book and more, at the Library!

The Hug- A - Book project is in collaboration with Kilkenny ETB. There have been weekly sessions for parents in school over the last few months, with Mrs C Kenny.

These photos show some parents with Mrs Kenny, and pupils from the junior classes, enjoying the resources associated with the books from the project.

It looks like great fun for all!

Senior Infants and First Class were treated to Story Time at the Library

5th and 6th class pupils took part in a writing workshop, also at the library
